The near-death conference bit caught me off guard in the best way. That observation about how people who've stared down mortality move with total abandon is kinda fascinating. I've noticed something similar with folks who went through serious health scares, like there's this deep shift in how they engage with everythng. Maybe proximity to death strips away whatever mental filters keep most of us self-conscious?
