My grandfather during a break from the frontlines told a neighbor that he thinks the war is lost. He should have been executed for that but his commander who just lost most of his soldiers in Stalingrad decided not to kill one of the few soldiers he had left. Many others spoke out and the repercussions meant they were killed. That was in Germany during the third Reich. Those were the consequences back then. And we still ask why didn't more people speak up. What repercussions do republicans face today? Being talked about on Fox News? Getting some hate emails and tweets? No the repercussion is lack of influence, power and money. This is not about them facing anything for speaking out. This is about greed and a total lack of having a backbone.

Huge fan here and read NextDraft religiously (thank you for all the work you put into it). I was incredibly moved by Gus Walz's love for his father last night, as I'm sure most (with any sense of empathy) were. His parents have referred to his various diagnoses as his "superpowers" and I do not think they would think that he "suffers" from these disorders. He looks to be living an amazing life where he has found support for his differences. Just thought you may want to consider using different language if you were to refer to him again. I appreciate your considering the feedback!

The discussion of low information voters and Trumps need to turn them out is suffused with some irony.

Republican legislators in state after state have sought and sometimes succeeded in repressing and discouraging voting with the consequences perhaps being that these low info trumpers won’t vote.

While good deeds often have unintended consequences so does evil, too…and this one is rich!
