I don’t get American football continued popularity? Kids don’t play it anymore outside of Texas and some of the southern states and maybe California. It’s mostly ads and timeouts and over large men standing around with their hands on their hips. What’s the old adage? Seventeen minutes of action in a sixty minute game that takes two hours? Is it just cultural inertia? Lack of other options on Sunday afternoons? (And Thursday nights? And Sunday nights? And Monday nights?)
I know guys my age (45-60) power NFL numbers for now. But in the future? A future where you see more kids wearing Messi and Haaland shirts than Ravens jerseys? I just don’t see it.
