“Values clarifier” is a brilliant phrase which explains why I find Trump supporters so hard to tolerate. The first paragraph in today’s post may be the most heartbreaking and powerful I’ve read in my years of reading Next Draft. We are in terrible times. Dave - I received your book yesterday.
Good to hear your personal outrage. During McCarthy, I was in the casting department at Young & Rubicam Advertising. I'd take the list of actors we wanted to bring in to audition for a commercial to a room marked "CLEARANCE." When I'd go back and get the list, it had names crossed off it. Actors lost careers.
Now, I bet Hollywood will rise up, with Kimmel being the mad as hell not going to take it any more moment! I can’t wait.
We keep getting closer to Hitler territory. Actually we’re in the middle of it. If nobody stands up to Trump soon, we’ll be in the thick of it with no way out.
That’s excellent. I have been researching every app and company I sign up for to make sure I’m supporting progressives and not these parasite cunts! We need a more strict environment for our cause that excludes parasites. Let them go to their “truth” social or whatever that pile of hot garbage is called.
Dave, thank you for your considered, yet very thorough analysis of the poop-show that is today’s news. I don’t know what I would do without you! Perhaps you need to take out an extra insurance policy on your brain (I can hear your wife laughing!). Or spend more time doing beagle therapy. Just don’t stop your analysis no matter how painful it may be.
I understand the sentiment and I agree for the most part, but I think it's a pretty low bar if Jimmy Kimmel is the bar of standards in standing up for yourself against an oppressive force. America is at a crucial point right now, and as an outsider, I think you all need a better figurehead to rally behind, honestly. Fight the good fight, and all that. But what you're standing up for is someone who was privileged to have a platform being deplatformed. You should all be fighting for those without platforms, you should be elevating those who can't stand up for themselves. You need to hand the megaphone of social equality up to the mouths of the unprivileged and let their voices ring out and be heard. Kimmel lost his job and can fall back on his cushy back account and comfortable home. All he does is talk back against the government. I need the rest of America to not be satisfied with this. Don't just talk back against them. Actually DO something. Do more. Do better. Get mad. Get angrier.

I removed the ABC app today. There’s a lot of info in this link:

How about a list of ABC sponsors? Start a boycott against companies who support ABC.

Thanks for the info. It's all the news I don't want to know about, but have to anyway!
