hey dave, big fan of your newsletter. i think it's worth noting that students protesting at columbia university were arrested for trespassing, not violence. i wondered how a student might be qualified as a trespasser on their own campus? what i learned is that columbia suspended students and then had them arrested for trespassing. personally, i think this is vile but that's unimportant really. mainly, i think the reporting around the campus protests has been really unfair and trumpy (ie kinda dumb), which is why i was a little taken aback by your leading article and commentary in the newsletter from 4/22. as a jewish person who has grown increasingly unsettled by how anti-zionism and antisemitism have slowly morphed into one thing, i think it's important to keep the conversation as nuanced as it deserves to be. i know many jewish students across the many campuses currently experiencing protests have reported that they are scared or feel targeted, and i sympathize with them to a degree, but i also think it's important to note that many jews feel terror at the sight of even a palestinian flag (me, once upon a time). i also think it's important to note that a lot of the criticism aimed at the protests happening right echo the counter protests that happened during BLM, which doesn't sit right with me. what i've heard directly from friends who are at these campus protests is that they are peaceful and diverse in every way. as such, ALL are welcome and ALL have been welcomed. not welcomed are counter protestors seeking to disrupt the sit-ins and stir trouble. as a result of the actions of counter-protestors, trouble has occurred, but it is not the fault of the protestors. thanks for reading, and thanks for your newsletter.

Hi Dave ... great info as usual. In case you hadn't heard of it an Irish citizen of Palestinian background was shot in what seems like a hate crime. I'm afraid anti-Moslem acts are happening as well as anti-Jewish acts. Strictly speaking both are anti-Semitic. Keep up the good work.
